Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! – SandBox Series

Inspired by Mo Willems' beloved children's book, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! is a playful 30-minute immersive theatre experience designed especially for our youngest audiences. Rather than presenting a traditional stage adaptation, this production invites children and their caregivers to step into the world and themes of the story through imaginative play, interactive storytelling, movement, music, and hands-on exploration.

Young audiences will discover what happens when someone really, really wants something they can't have. Along the way, children will help solve problems, make choices, practice using their voices, and explore ideas about responsibility, patience, and following directions in fun and engaging ways.

Interactive Experience

Children become active participants throughout the experience as they help guide the story through games, movement, imaginative play, and audience interaction. Each performance encourages young audiences to make observations, respond to playful challenges, and work together to help the story unfold.

Experiential Opportunities

Pre-show Activities: Families can enjoy hands-on activity stations featuring bus-themed crafts, dramatic play opportunities, coloring activities, and creative projects inspired by the book.

Interactive Moments: Throughout the performance, children are invited to participate through movement, music, call-and-response activities, imaginative play, and playful problem-solving inspired by the story's themes.

Educational Elements

Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! supports early literacy, language development, and social-emotional learning through humor, repetition, audience participation, and imaginative storytelling. Children practice listening, decision-making, self-control, cooperation, and communication while exploring concepts of rules, responsibility, and empathy.

Ticketing

Each performance has a limited capacity of 25 child tickets and 40 adult tickets. To keep the experience safe and enjoyable for everyone, each child ticket must be accompanied by at least one adult ticket. All children ages 1 and older require a ticket to attend.

If the child-ticket option does not appear or you are unable to add a child ticket to your order, the 25 designated child tickets for that performance have sold out. We encourage you to select another performance with child tickets available.

If adult tickets remain available, they may be purchased for children; however, these tickets will be sold at the full adult ticket price.

Flexible Ticket Transfers

We understand that plans can change. Families who are unable to attend their scheduled performance may transfer their tickets through their online ticket account to another available date and time of Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, subject to availability.

Please note that tickets may only be transferred to another performance of Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! and cannot be transferred to a different Sandbox Series production. Thank you for your understanding as we work to welcome as many young audiences as possible.
