I Want My Hat Back – SandBox Series

Can you solve the mystery? I Want My Hat Back is a whimsical 30-minute immersive theatre experience designed especially for our youngest audiences. Using Jon Klassen's award-winning picture book as its inspiration, this playful adventure brings themes of curiosity, observation, and problem-solving to life through imaginative storytelling, creative movement, music, games, and hands-on exploration.

Young audiences and their caregivers will enjoy a playful theatrical experience that encourages curiosity, creativity, and participation. Along the way, children will make observations, solve playful challenges, and discover that sometimes the journey can be just as much fun as finding the answer.

Interactive Experience

Young audience members become active participants through movement, storytelling, music, and audience interaction. Each performance encourages children to observe carefully, think creatively, respond to playful prompts, and help shape the experience through their imagination and participation.

Experiential Opportunities

Pre-show Activities: Families can explore hands-on activity stations featuring hat decorating, woodland-inspired crafts, storytelling games, and creative activities connected to the themes of the book.

Interactive Moments: Throughout the experience, children are invited to participate through movement, music, imaginative play, and audience interaction inspired by the story's playful mystery.

Educational Elements

I Want My Hat Back supports early literacy, vocabulary development, sequencing, observation skills, and critical thinking. Through repetition, humor, and audience participation, children practice making predictions, recalling details, and understanding story structure while exploring themes of honesty, responsibility, and problem-solving.

Join us for a delightful theatrical mystery filled with laughter, curiosity, and woodland-inspired fun. Inspired by one of today's most beloved picture books, I Want My Hat Back encourages young learners to think creatively, participate confidently, and discover the joy of storytelling together.
