Fall '26 Academy: Costume Crafts and Creativity

Ages: 8-12*

60 Minute Class

Class Schedule: 10:15-11:15 AM Saturdays October 3rd - November 7th**

Description: 

Every great character has a story and every great story begins with a costume! Young artists will explore the creative process behind designing for the stage while learning fun, hands-on skills like fabric painting, dyeing, beginner-friendly sewing techniques, embellishing, and other costume-making crafts.

Using scripts and character exploration, students will learn how costume designers transform ideas into wearable works of art. Along the way, they'll build creative confidence, practice problem-solving, and discover what it's like to think and work like a professional costume designer. Whether they dream of working backstage or simply love making things with their hands, this class offers a fun and inspiring introduction to the art of theatrical costume design.

Hello, my name is Samantha Schwartz, and I'm a costume designer, makeup artist, and all around theatre-technician. While living, learning, and working all around the Midwest including Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, I've honed my craft in theatre, and am so excited to share my passion and knowledge here at Columbus Children's Theatre this summer.

*Participants must be the appropriate age by the start of classes.

**If a class is canceled by CCT or the instructor, November17th will serve as the makeup day.

Cancellation Policy:

• Cancel 4+ weeks before start date: full refund less $25 fee.
• Cancel  2–4 weeks before start date: refund less $45 fee.
• Cancel 3 days–2 weeks before start date: account credit less $45 fee.
• Cancel within 3 days: no refund or credit due to limited enrollment capacity.

All classes require a minimum number of students to run. CCT reserves the right to cancel classes with low enrollment. If CCT cancels, a full refund will be issued.
